Director of Business Solutions

CORE Transformers
Seneca, SC Full Time
POSTED ON 4/3/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/28/2026

CORE Transformers is hiring a Director of Business Solutions to own high-priority initiatives across every corner of the business. This role will be taking complex, ambiguous problems from definition through to working outcomes, and doing the actual work to get there. This is a role built for a skilled generalist and requires versatility: someone who is equally at home designing a workflow, building a data report, managing a vendor, or sitting with a team to document and improve processes. If that sounds like you, read on!

CORE is an electrical infrastructure company specializing in transformers, a critical component powering AI data centers, large-scale construction, and the modernization of the US power grid. In an industry notorious for years-long lead times, we quote in minutes and ship the same day, backed by over 1,000 units in stock and a unique product design that outperforms the major OEMs.

We were founded by the entrepreneurs behind Sunbelt and Maddox Industrial Transformers, the two biggest names in the preowned transformer space. The leadership team they've assembled brings deep industry expertise alongside modern, high-growth operational experience.

We're on pace to 3x revenue this year, new team members are joining almost every month, and the energy that comes with that is real. We want strong contributors who lift up those around them, listen to ideas from anywhere in the org, and care more about getting the outcome right than being the one who was right. If you do great work and you're a good human about it, you'll fit in here.

Your Mission

CORE is scaling fast. The business has more high-priority operational initiatives than bandwidth to see them through faithfully, and that gap is where this role lives.

You'll report directly to our VP of Operations, serving as the trusted point person who takes ownership of complex problems and sees them through to resolution. That means understanding the problem, designing the approach, coordinating whoever needs to be involved, and delivering a working outcome, not just status updates. You're not coordinating other people's execution. You are the execution, with others' cooperation.

The work spans pricing strategy, technology and systems implementations, process documentation, vendor relationships, data infrastructure, people-facing workflow design, and more. This isn't a role where someone hands you a playbook. You're often building it. And when it's done, you'll hand it off to the team that runs it every day.

A Day in the Life

Your morning may start with a check-in on the pending NetSuite implementation. You're coordinating with the outside consulting team on a data mapping question, having already pulled the relevant documentation and drafted a requirements summary so the call stays focused and productive.

Mid-morning, a manager needs a new Power BI report: pipeline by product type, segmented by region. You build it, QA it, and send it over with a plain-language note on how to read it.

After lunch, you're evaluating two expense reporting platforms the team has been considering. You've built a comparison matrix and are drafting a one-pager recommendation for your VP.

Late afternoon, you're with the HR team mapping the current hiring workflow. You've identified three manual steps that should be automated, and you've already made the changes directly. Every day looks a little different.

Who You Are

You're the kind of person who notices things. When you're walking through a team's workflow, you see the friction point before anyone names it. When you're looking at data, you spot the pattern no one asked you to find. You bring those observations forward as structured recommendations your VP can act on.

You build structure in ambiguous situations. When there's no template, you create one. When a process lives in someone's head, you sit with them until it lives in a document. You don't wait for perfect information, but you ask the right questions before you prescribe a solution.

You're analytically wired without being too rigid. You can build a report, run an analysis, and turn it into something a decision-maker can act on. You're an early adopter by nature, you've already explored what AI tools can do beyond the basics, and you get genuinely excited about fixing inefficiencies with amazing technology.

You don't need a team reporting to you to feel effective. People like interacting with you, and you drive operational momentum by making work easier and more focused across the entire company.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Own cross-functional operational projects from kickoff through delivery, managing scope, timelines, and execution. You do the work, not just coordinate it.
  • Observe how teams work, identify friction and inefficiency proactively, and bring structured recommendations to leadership.
  • Document and improve core business workflows to support system implementations, team training, and operational alignment.
  • Serve as the internal bridge between business stakeholders and external technical vendors, defining requirements and keeping projects on track.
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards that turn data into decisions other teams can act on.
  • Identify automation and efficiency opportunities across the business and drive implementation from scoping through rollout.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools and platforms, building clear business cases with feature comparisons, cost analysis, and integration considerations.
  • Design and roll out KPI and SMART goal frameworks at the team level, ensuring the right inputs are tracked across functions.
  • Support ongoing NetSuite ERP coordination alongside third-party consulting partners.
  • Develop working familiarity with end-to-end business processes across engineering, procurement, logistics, marketing, HR, and customer service.
  • Coordinate facilities vendor relationships and operational infrastructure needs.

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • 3-5 years of experience in operations, project management, business analysis, or a closely related generalist role, ideally in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations, engineering, supply chain, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience owning projects end to end with loosely defined scope, designing the approach and completing the work.
  • Proven ability to prioritize competing initiatives by expected business impact under pressure.
  • General technology fluency: hands-on experience with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, BI tools), comfortable learning new platforms quickly, and enough systems thinking to define requirements and coordinate with technical vendors.
  • Data analysis capability: building reports, pulling insights from spreadsheets, turning analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience defining business requirements and coordinating with technical teams or external vendors to deliver on them.
  • Comfortable communicating directly with VP-level leadership, presenting recommendations, not just status updates.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across audiences, from the warehouse floor to the executive team.
  • Self-starting builder's disposition: you create structure where none exists, follow through without being chased, and leave things more organized than you found them.

Bonus Points If You Have...
  • Hands-on NetSuite experience: saved searches, custom fields, workflows, dashboards, or data mapping.
  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI.
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools in a business context, with real opinions about what works.
  • Background in B2B or industrial environments, particularly manufacturing or distribution.
  • Experience at a fast-growing or early-stage company where you had to build things from scratch.
  • Some people management experience.
  • A sense of humor. We work hard and we like to enjoy it.

Working With Us

We started 2026 with around 30 people and we've been adding new team members every month since. The energy that comes with that kind of growth is real. There's a genuine spirit of being in it together, and enough momentum that you can actually shape things from where you sit.

We share a portion of company profits with every single employee every quarter, because we mean it when we say everyone has a stake in the outcome.

The people who thrive here are strong at their jobs and good to the people around them. They listen. They lift. They give credit. They don't need to be the loudest voice in the room, but they make the room better.

If you're looking for a place that moves fast, wins together, and actually invests in the people doing the work, come talk to us.

How to Apply

Attach your resume and include a short note in the cover letter field: 2-3 sentences on why this role appeals to you and why you'd be a strong fit.

For major bonus points: include the word sassafras somewhere in your cover letter comments. It's how we know you read all the way to the end, and honestly, we think people who do that tend to be the right kind of people.
