Assistant Controller
Location: Cincinnati, OH

Job Description
- Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account reconciliations.
- Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Oversee cost accounting activities, including standard costing, inventory valuation, production cost analysis, and variance reporting.
- Partner with operations and manufacturing teams to analyze production costs, labor efficiency, material usage, and operational performance.
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and strategic analysis.
- Support external audits by preparing documentation, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring compliance requirements are met.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement accounting best practices and process improvements.
- Supervise, train, and mentor accounting team members as assigned.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–3 years in a manufacturing environment.
- CPA certification.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Plex, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of banking processes, financial analysis, and accounting systems.
- Experience with inventory accounting, manufacturing costs, and operational performance analysis.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting functions.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to make sound business decisions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across departments.
