The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving sales growth and expanding market presence by acquiring new clients and maintaining strong relationships in the light industrial, hospitality, event staffing, and general clerical verticals. This role involves identifying business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and ensuring client satisfaction to meet revenue and profitability goals.
In addition to a competitive base salary, this position offers a strong commission structure, providing excellent earning potential for high performers.
Key Responsibilities & Expectations
A. Business Development & Sales
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the light industrial (manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, logistics, etc.) light industrial, hospitality, event staffing, and general clerical verticals
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve revenue targets.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective clients through cold calling, networking, industry events, and referrals.
- Present customized staffing solutions to prospective clients, showcasing value propositions and ROI.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements that align with company objectives and profitability goals.
- Properly document and update Zenople system to input activity data and ensure 100% compliance with documentation requirements.
B. Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during the sales process, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and engagement.
- Conduct regular business reviews with clients to assess performance, address concerns, and identify expansion opportunities.
- Partner with internal recruiting teams to ensure client needs are met efficiently.
- Expertly facility warm hand offs of key personnel internally and externally to facilitate a 3-wide 3-deep practice.
- Act as a consultant to clients, providing insights on labor market trends, workforce solutions, and compliance requirements.
C. Market Analysis & Competitive Intelligence
- Research industry trends, labor market shifts, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities.
- Analyze client hiring patterns and workforce challenges to proactively propose staffing solutions.
- Maintain awareness of local, state, and federal labor laws impacting staffing.
D. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support
- Work closely with recruiting, operations, and account management teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Participate in sales meetings, training, and strategy sessions.
- Provide feedback to marketing and leadership teams on messaging, branding, and market positioning.
E. Performance & Revenue Growth
- Drive revenue growth by meeting or exceeding sales quotas and business development goals.
- Optimize client profitability by balancing pricing strategies and service quality.
- Improve client retention rates by fostering strong relationships and consistent service delivery.
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong understanding of the light industrial sector and staffing industry.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and consultative selling skills.
- Ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
- Self-motivated with strong goal-orientation and resilience.
- Excellent, clear and concise communication skills
- Proficiency in CRM tools (Salesforce, Bullhorn, or equivalent).
Preferred:
- Experience in workforce solutions, managed services, or vendor management.
- Knowledge of compliance regulations related to staffing (OSHA, EEOC, FLSA).
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, or related field.
- Proven track record in B2B sales within the staffing industry.
Salary : $75,000 - $80,000
