Core Molding Technologies is hiring an HR Generalist to support our manufacturing operation in Winona, Minnesota. This role serves as the primary onsite HR resource for the plant, partnering closely with plant leadership and employees to support recruiting, employee relations, payroll, benefits, compliance, training coordination, and employee engagement initiatives.
The HR Generalist plays a key role in maintaining a positive employee experience while supporting operational performance, workforce planning, and compliance with company policies and employment regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead hourly recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and orientation activities for the plant
- Process bi-weekly payroll and support timekeeping accuracy in coordination with supervisors and corporate HR
- Maintain HRIS records, attendance tracking, personnel files, and employee documentation
- Serve as the onsite resource for employee benefits, including medical, dental, disability, life insurance, and 401(k) programs
- Support employee relations activities including coaching, conflict resolution, investigations, and policy interpretation
- Coordinate workers’ compensation administration, injury reporting, and return-to-work activities
- Partner with operations leadership to support workforce planning and staffing needs
- Support operational and safety training coordination in partnership with plant leadership
- Lead employee engagement initiatives, recognition activities, and plant communication efforts
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and HR policies, including applicable Minnesota employment regulations
- Generate and maintain HR reports, metrics, and workforce data
- Support performance management and employee development initiatives
- Collaborate with corporate HR teams to support broader HR programs and initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- 5 years of progressive HR generalist experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Experience supporting employee relations, recruiting, payroll, benefits, and compliance activities
- Knowledge of employment laws, workers’ compensation, and HR best practices
- Experience with payroll, HRIS, and timekeeping systems (ADP preferred)
- Strong communication, organization, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with plant and corporate leadership
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Manufacturing or multi-shift plant experience
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification
- Experience supporting employee engagement and culture initiatives
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred
