This pivotal role involves partnering with marine operations leadership, port captains, and vessel crews to foster a robust safety culture, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and drive continuous safety improvements across the fleet. Responsibilities
- Support vessel crews and operational leadership in executing safety and environmental programs
- Conduct vessel visits, safety audits, and field observations across marine operations
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions
- Manage safety reporting systems, including tracking, trending, and performance metrics
- Develop and deliver tailored safety training programs for marine operations
- Promote continuous improvement through safety alerts, lessons learned, and communication initiatives
- Collaborate with operations to identify hazards and implement effective risk mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with USCG, OSHA, and environmental regulations
- Assist in the development and implementation of regional safety plans
- Maintain and enhance safety systems, including JSA programs and reporting tools
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5–10 years of safety experience within marine, terminal, or industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of USCG, OSHA, and environmental regulations
- Proven experience with incident investigations, audits, and safety program management
- Familiarity with marine operations, such as tug & barge or terminal operations, is preferred
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both field teams and leadership
- Certifications such as CSP, CHMM, or similar are advantageous
- Field-oriented role requiring regular vessel and operational site interaction
