Level 3: Processing Repair Employee
Job Summary
Skilled mechanic who, under supervision, safely performs diagnostic work, maintenance, installation, and repair of fixed plant operational equipment and related systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist with and perform component removal, repair, and installation for jaw and gyratory crushers, vibratory screens, conveyors, dust suppression/collection systems, mobile conveying, pumps, pit dewatering, hydraulic systems, etc.
- Perform mechanical and lubrication preventive maintenance, including changing filters in dust collection systems, checking screens, inspecting seals for leakage, monitoring oil levels, and maintaining lubrication systems.
- Perform removal, repair, and installation of piping and pump components, such as valves, expansion joints, and check valves.
- Maintain work orders and complete work area inspections.
- May perform welding and fabrication.
- May operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and boom trucks.
- Perform housekeeping duties.
- Perform other duties as required.
- One (1) year of experience in fixed plant operational mechanical/maintenance work, or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
- Must have completed required academic coursework and competencies (including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees) and demonstrate the required mechanical aptitude. The selected candidate must show the ability to apply knowledge and technical skills and pass a written assessment based on technical skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge, as well as safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform system troubleshooting, maintenance, and component removal, repair, and installation for jaw and gyratory crushers, vibratory screens, conveyors, dust suppression/collection systems, mobile conveying systems, pumps, pit dewatering, hydraulic systems, etc.
- Perform mechanical and lubrication preventive maintenance, including changing filters in dust collection systems, checking screens, inspecting seals for leakage, monitoring oil levels, and maintaining lubrication systems.
- Perform removal, repair, and installation of piping and pump components, such as valves, expansion joints, and check valves.
- Set priorities and make decisions regarding equipment repairs as needed.
- Maintain work orders and complete work area inspections.
- Train and mentor other employees.
- Perform advanced welding and fabrication.
- May operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and boom trucks.
- Serve as a fill-in supervisor as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Two (2) years of experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist, or facility maintenance/construction), or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
- Must have completed required academic and practical competencies (including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where an LOP exists) and demonstrate the required mechanical aptitude.
