Director Of Marine Regulatory Development Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Marine Regulatory Development in Houston, TX. In this vital role, you will oversee the development and compliance of maritime infrastructure projects, ensuring navigational safety and regulatory adherence. As a key figure in the organization, you will collaborate with federal, state, and local stakeholders to advance projects that support economic growth and waterway sustainability, all while leading a talented team dedicated to excellence in maritime development.

Director Of Marine Regulatory Development Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of marine regulatory strategies for port and waterway infrastructure projects.
  • Manage federal and state permitting processes, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with government agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Coast Guard, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee stakeholder engagement, fostering strong relationships with community leaders, port authorities, and industry partners.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for project planning, budgeting, and regulatory approval processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of regulatory, engineering, and project management professionals.
  • Represent the organization at high-level meetings, industry forums, and public hearings related to maritime infrastructure development.

Director of Marine Regulatory Development Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Policy, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in marine, port infrastructure, dredging, or related industries.
  • Deep knowledge of federal permitting, regulatory compliance, and waterway management.
  • Proven success in managing complex infrastructure projects and navigating regulatory landscapes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Professional licensure (e.g., PE license) or project management certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively on-site in Houston, TX, and travel as needed for stakeholder meetings and regulatory negotiations.
