As a Design Engineer at Coram AI, you’ll own the mechanical and electromechanical design of our next-generation security and edge-AI systems. You’ll bridge industrial design, manufacturing, and field deployment: building products that integrate compute, power, and connectivity in rugged, real-world environments. You’ll take ideas from concept through production, shaping how our hardware scales globally.

Compensation Range: $130K - $210K

The role:
As a Design Engineer at Coram AI, you’ll own the mechanical and electromechanical design of our next-generation security and edge-AI systems. You’ll bridge industrial design, manufacturing, and field deployment: building products that integrate compute, power, and connectivity in rugged, real-world environments. You’ll take ideas from concept through production, shaping how our hardware scales globally.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and validation of electromechanical assemblies balancing performance, manufacturability, and cost
- Own the full product lifecycle from prototype through EVT/DVT/PVT, vendor handoff, and field deployment
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery
- Be a proactive self-starter: take initiative, act with urgency, and bring a scrappy, hands-on approach to problem solving in fast-moving environments
- Drive execution across multiple workstreams with urgency and accountability
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in electromechanical or hardware product development
- Strong CAD proficiency (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
- Proven DFM/DFA experience and understanding of manufacturing techniques for sheet metal and injection molding
- Working knowledge of thermal, vibration, and environmental design considerations
- Resilient in challenging and fast-paced environments
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to influence at all levels
- Ability to work in an onsite environment - we move quicker when we're in the same room
- Chinese proficiency and experience leading vendor engagement or manufacturing with partners in Taiwan and China
- Strong hands-on prototyping instincts with the ability to translate ideas into physical proofs of concept and iterate fast
- Ability to take projects from half-baked idea to working hardware without waiting for direction
- Curiosity and personal drive to learn new fabrication methods, materials, and processes to expand your range as an engineer
