Description
The Site Superintendent is responsible for daily on-site coordination of solar photovoltaic construction projects, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and timelines. This role leads field operations, oversees subcontractors and crews, manages project documentation via Procore, and ensures a strong culture of safety and accountability on-site.
The work job sites for this role will be located in the state of Illinois but willingness to travel is required in the role.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily construction activities across solar PV sites (canopy, rooftop, and ground mount installations)
- Lead daily Plan of the Day (POD) meetings and manage 3-week look-ahead schedules
- Coordinate labor crews, subcontractors, and vendors on site
- Monitor site safety and ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental protocols
- Track daily work progress and update project status using Procore software
- Troubleshoot field challenges and escalate as necessary to project management
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of site activities, material deliveries, and labor hours
- Review blueprints and project plans to ensure work is performed to spec
- Facilitate clear communication between the field and project leadership
- Conduct quality control inspections and ensure project meets Coral Reef standards
- This position requires frequent overnight travel to project sites, with work assignments typically lasting a week or longer based on project need. The work involves outdoor site supervision in varying weather conditions
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–3 years of construction experience (solar PV preferred); technical certifications or degree may substitute for experience
- Familiarity with Procore or similar construction management platforms
- Strong knowledge of solar construction methods and safety requirements
- Ability to lead and communicate with field crews and subcontractors
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to lift moderate weights and perform physical tasks
