What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solar Project Manager position at Ag Energy Company?
Commercial & Agricultural Solar | Location: Illinois (Travel Required)
Compensation Range: $85,000 - $120,000 Base | Up to $150,000 w/(Incentive - Bonus)
About the Role
We are a rapidly growing solar company delivering commercial and agricultural energy projects across Illinois and surrounding markets. Our project pipeline is expanding quickly, and we need a Project Manager who can bring structure, accountability, and execution discipline to our operations.
This is not a passive coordination role. This is a hands-on position for someone who can take ownership of multiple active projects, manage logistics and scheduling, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
You will serve as the central hub across construction, electrical, engineering, and procurement teams. You will be owning project execution from takeoff/kickoff through project completion.
If you are someone who thrives in people centric fast paced environments, take ownership of outcomes, and know how to keep projects moving quickly under compliance regulations and deadlines pressures, this role is designed for you.
What You’ll Be Working On
- Managing multiple commercial and agricultural solar projects simultaneously
- Building and maintaining project schedules, timelines, and deliverables
- Coordinating logistics across materials, labor, and field operations
- Ensuring all permits, applications, and approvals are completed and in place
- Working directly with construction and electrical leads to drive execution
- Partnering with internal teams on plan sets and equipment procurement
- Tracking budgets, managing costs, and protecting project margins
- Identifying risks early and solving problems before they impact delivery
- Traveling to job sites as needed (primarily Illinois, occasional out-of-state projects)
What We’re Looking For
- 2 to 5 years of project management experience
- Experience in solar, construction, or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of scheduling, logistics, and field coordination
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once without losing attention to detail
- Comfort working cross-functionally with field and office teams
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to take ownership and drive projects to completion
Preferred but not required
- Commercial solar project experience | familiarity with permitting and utility processes
- Experience working with subcontractors and field crews
How We Evaluate Candidates
We are focused on finding people who can execute, not just manage from a distance.
Our interview process includes
- Initial conversation to assess experience and alignment
- Discussion around real-world project scenarios and problem-solving approach
- Final conversation focused on ownership, communication, and execution mindset
We value clarity, accountability, and the ability to get things done over perfect resumes.
