Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) using advanced equipment while maintaining strict infection control standards.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options.
- Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting treatment plans, procedures, and patient responses in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with all infection control protocols using aseptic techniques.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry practices and providing care tailored to children’s needs (pediatrics).
- Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on four-handed dentistry for efficiency and patient comfort.
- Ability to accurately measure vital signs and recognize signs of medical concerns during assessments.
- Knowledge of infection control procedures, sterilization techniques, and aseptic technique standards.
