CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for a Summer 2026 Commercial Underwriting Intern in our Seattle, Washington office. This 12-week paid internship program offers hands-on corporate experience, meaningful exposure to day-to-day underwriting operations, and prepare students with the experience needed to have a rewarding career at CopperPoint.
The Commercial Underwriting Intern will gain exposure to all aspects of the underwriting process, including but not limited to learning how underwriters evaluate risk, support short- and long-term business strategies, and contribute to the company’s growth objectives. This internship also provides insight into agency partnerships and collaboration across teams to support strong business relationships.

In your role, you will support the Pacific Northwest Commercial Underwriting team by:
- Research and prepare reports to support underwriting decisions and operational efficiency.
- Assisting with account reviews and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.
- Initiating, participating in, and attending team meetings.
- Providing clear, timely, and professional communication with underwriting staff and agency partners.
- Develop PowerPoint presentations, training materials, and documentation as needed.
- Identifying opportunities to improve underwriting processes and project management.
- Shadowing other departments to gain a well-rounded understanding of the insurance industry.
- Providing additional ad-hoc support to the team as needed.
- A current college undergraduate pursuing a degree in business, finance, economics, risk management, insurance, or a related field.
- A resident of Washington State and/or currently attending a college or university in Washington.
- Proficient in Microsoft® Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Comfortable working with data and analyzing sensitive information.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Able to multitask, prioritize work, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Interested in pursuing a career in underwriting or the insurance industry post-graduation.
- Program Dates: May 26, 2026- August 14, 2026
- Salary: $21.30 per hour
- Travel Commitment: CopperPoint is thrilled to host all interns at our Phoenix, AZ office in June and August! This exciting, company-sponsored visit will focus on team building, training, and engagement activities, and conclude with a celebration of intern achievements.
- Work Location: Hybrid (Seattle, WA)
- Time Commitment: 30 hours per week
- The intern will accrue 0.0692 of Paid Time Off (PTO) per paid hour.
- The intern will be eligible to participate in CopperPoint’s matching 401(k) plan.
