PRODUCTION FOREMAN
Copper River Seafoods, Inc.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Production Foreman assists the Production Manager in carrying out production objectives within standard operating procedures, policies and schedules. Coordinates direction, design and implementation of training for production department personnel, as well as coordinates and leads training activities with assistance and/or as directed. The Production Foreman is also responsible for maintaining safe, continuous production department and held accountable for the proper utilization of all production resources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Supervises all production activities and maintains efficient production flow with a minimum of down time.
Ø Recommends improvements in production practices and tools to increase production operational efficiency.
Ø Ensures that all available procedures, formulas, specifications, and quality standards are utilized daily at all times.
Ø Checks daily production operations against company goals. Investigates and determines reasons when goals are not met. Takes corrective action accordingly.
Ø Ensures adherence to standard operating procedures and accepted techniques in operations and activities and efficient use of personnel, materials, and supplies.
Ø Maximizes production and production quality by foreseeing and overcoming obstacles and challenges.
Ø Responsible for product quality and integrity in the department at all times.
Ø Responsible for organizational development within the department. Defines objectives, functions, responsibilities, and relationships under direct supervision of the Production Manager.
Ø Assists Production Manager in developing, integrating, and implementing programs to train employees in production operations and production equipment maintenance.
Ø Maintains a safe working environment in accordance with company policy at all times. Monitors the safe use of equipment and work habits in and around the work area. Responsible for keeping up to date on current company policies as they relate to safety.
Ø Communicates information as it relates to out-of-specification products, equipment, packaging materials, and/or raw materials to the Production Manager.
Ø Ensures continuous improvement and cost efficiencies in position and department
Ø Prompt and regular attendance at scheduled work intervals.
Ø Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Ø High School diploma or equivalent plus two years of college or a vocational degree.
Ø Minimum 3 years of experience in plant production with a minimum of two years supervisory or leadership capacity.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Ø Must be able to stand and work for long hours where frequently exposed to undesirable conditions, including cold and wet environments.
Ø Must be capable of repetitive motions using hands, arms, legs, and back.
Ø Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Ø Must have a basic understanding of the English language, including the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ø Must be willing to work any shift, including nights.
OTHER:
Shifts will vary depending on the openings and movements of fish. The Production Foreman must be prepared to work 7 days a week and 12 hours per day. There may also be periods of time when there are few or no hours of work. A Foreman is responsible for their prompt and regular attendance when they are scheduled to work.
