About the Role
Copper Quail Global is partnering with a market-leading mining group seeking an experienced Sustainability Director to drive its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy across a major African mining operation.
This pivotal role will lead sustainability initiatives, oversee ESG reporting and community programs, and ensure alignment with international sustainability frameworks. You’ll work closely with executive leadership to embed responsible mining practices that deliver long-term social and environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the company’s sustainability and ESG strategy.
Oversee environmental stewardship, climate resilience, and biodiversity programs.
Lead resettlement and community development initiatives.
Manage ESG reporting, data systems, and stakeholder engagement.
Align operations with IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles.
Qualifications & Experience
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Engineering, or related field.
10 years’ experience in sustainability leadership within mining or heavy industry.
Proven track record in ESG strategy, community engagement, and resettlement projects.
Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
