Job Title: Water Operator

Job Summary: Copeville SUD is seeking a dependable and qualified Water Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the District’s water system and facilities while ensuring compliance with applicable state and local requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain, and repair the water distribution system, including pipelines, hydrants, valves, and meters.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on system components.
- Required to participate in the on-call rotation schedule.
- Respond to water service outages, leaks, and emergencies in a timely manner.
- Assist in the installation of water mains, services, and meters.
- Monitor water pressure levels and report any irregularities.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal water quality regulations.
- Keep accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with the public.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or District Manager.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
- TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) Class C Water Operators License.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and lift heavy objects when needed.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Previous experience in water distribution or utility work.
- Must be able to perform all job duties.
- Must possess the vision, hearing, ability, and skill necessary to operate motorized vehicles, equipment, tools and power tools; frequently required to stand, smell, hear, talk, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance; lift 75 lbs., and move by pulling, pushing, rolling objects exceeding 75 lbs.
Preferred additional Qualifications:
- Customer Service Inspector (CSI)
