We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Support – Behavioral Health/Recovery to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing assistance and guidance to individuals facing various mental health challenges. This position requires a strong understanding of behavioral health, as well as effective communication skills, to support members in navigating their journeys toward improved well-being. Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to our members, sharing personal experiences to inspire hope and resilience.
  • Utilize motivational techniques to encourage members to set and achieve personal goals.
  • Assist members in developing coping strategies and life skills necessary for maintaining wellness.
  • Facilitate sessions focused on peer support, education, and skill-building.
  • Implement crisis management and intervention strategies when necessary to ensure member safety.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, mental health counselors, and specialists, to coordinate care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of member interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Advocate for members across various systems, including healthcare, housing, and employment services.
  • Support members with daily tasks like shopping, scheduling appointments, and participating in extracurricular activities.

Requirements

  • Must have a NY Certified Peer Specialist or NY Certified Recovery Peer Advocate certification to interview.
  • Must have lived experience dealing with personal behavioral health or mental health challenges.
  • Strong mentoring skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Knowledge of mental health counseling practices and social work principles is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while maintaining member confidentiality.
  • A genuine passion for helping others achieve their goals.
  • Ability to navigate technology confidently, using a tablet or desktop computer to join team meetings, record session notes, and support members with virtual appointments.

Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
