Short Description
The Supervisor, GI Technicians provides direct operational oversite and leadership for GI Technicians and Technical GI program at Mount Laurel, Special Test, Willingboro. Works collaboratively with departmental leadership to meet financial, quality, experience, and education goals and metrics to deliver safe, efficient, high-quality care across the health system. Creates a positive and safe working environment to enhance learning and team member engagement.
- Assists with the operational oversight of the GI Labs at Mount Laurel, Special Test Camden, and Willingboro
- Responsible for management and activities of high-level disinfection as well as coordination of equipment supplies and materials
- Plans, designs, and monitors the activities and procedures around processing of equipment and staffing
- Ensure team members provide high-quality infection control practices that are patient focused and comply with regulatory, state, and local federal requirement
- Ensure team members schedules are accurate and complete at all 3 locations
- Assists in hiring, disciplinary actions, and evaluating team members
- Assists with management of budget and capital
- Assures completion and documentation of quality metrics
Overview
The Mt. Laurel and Willingboro locations are only outpatient units, whereas the Special Test Unit (STU), located on the sixth floor in the main hospital is an outpatient and inpatient unit. All are run by the hospital largely to serve diagnostic and therapeutic needs of the Gastroenterology Division.
The most common gastroenterology procedures are upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. In the pulmonary suite (STU only), endoscopy of the airway procedures is performed, and are commonly called bronchoscopy.
All units are staffed by surgical schedulers, patient service representatives, nurses, and GI technicians. Anesthesiology is present for all GI procedures. Nurses rotate between the admission (Pre op), procedure suites, recovery (PACU) and pre-admission testing. They must be familiar with all roles and procedures in the GI Unit.
Experience Required
- Requires 2 years of GI experience
- Prefer 1 year supervisory / leadership experience
Education Requirements
- HIGH SCHOOL OR GED
License/Certification Requirements
- Current Driver's License required
- Must have or be working toward CFER certification or surgical technology certification
Special Requirements
- M-F, 8hr shifts; flex times
