Class A CDL DriverPosition Overview

Cooks Building Supply (CBS) is seeking to hire an additional Class A CDL Driver to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a dependable, safety-focused individual who wants to build a long-term career with a stable and growing company.

This is NOT an over-the-road (OTR) position. Drivers are home every night. ( There are opportunities to go over night from time to time)

Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Overtime as needed

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class A CDL trucks, including manual transmission (stick shift) vehicles.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on all assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Secure,, transport, and unload your own loads safely and efficiently.
• Deliver fabricated rebar and construction materials to customer job sites.
• Pick up rebar and materials from rebar mills and suppliers.
• Service delivery areas including Huntsville, Birmingham, Nashville, and surrounding markets.
• Confirm scheduled deliveries with customers and communicate delivery status to the CBS team.
• Maintain accurate delivery paperwork and documentation.
• Assist with loading and unloading materials using proper equipment and safety procedures.
• Keep trucks clean, organized, and professionally maintained, including daily clean-out of assigned vehicles.
• Assist in warehouse operations when not making deliveries, including receiving, stocking, organizing inventory, pulling orders, and general warehouse support.
• Support other departments and perform additional duties as needed to help meet company goals and customer expectations.
• Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude when interacting with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
• Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety requirements.

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL.
• No restrictions prohibiting operation of a manual transmission truck.
• Minimum of 2 years of verifiable Class A CDL driving experience.
• Accident-free driving history.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Must pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.
• Ability to safely operate both Class A CDL and non-CDL trucks.
• Ability to lift, load, unload, and secure materials.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work overtime when necessary.
