The Warehouse Manager oversees the daily operations of a high-volume warehouse, yard, and disposal facilities for a heavy highway construction company. This role is responsible for managing inventory control of equipment, small tools, and construction materials, ensuring all assets are maintained in safe and working order, and coordinating closely with field, operations, and project teams. The Warehouse Manager ensures compliance with safety protocols, directs warehouse staff, and maintains the integrity, security, and organization of the facility.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of recent warehouse management experience, preferably in a construction environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with small tool and small engine repairs (hand tools, saws, drills, compressors, etc.), required.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Forklift certification / Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Trained, First-Aid/CPR certification, required (or ability to obtain).
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs. and perform physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, climbing, and operating machinery for extended periods, required.
- Leadership skills with experience directing and developing warehouse teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams and vendors.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with inventory/warehouse management software is a plus.
Essential Accountabilities
- Direct and manage daily warehouse operations, including receiving, staging, storage, distribution, and dispatch of tools, materials, and equipment.
- Maintain oversight of inventory control systems to ensure accuracy and timely availability of resources to field operations.
- Collaborate daily with Foremen, Superintendents and the Resource Coordinator to ensure necessary tools and materials are dispatched as scheduled.
- Serve as the point of contact with Operations, Project Management, Accounting, Vendors, and Subcontractors regarding warehouse logistics.
- Partner with Accounting to develop annual budget for warehouse related items.
- Inspect and verify incoming deliveries for quality and quantity; stage items or stock materials accordingly.
- Investigate and resolve issues with internal shipments or inventory discrepancies; escalate when appropriate.
- Maintain, repair, and track small tools and small engine equipment.
- Oversee tool crib inventory, surplus materials, SDS documentation, and inventory of all liquids and solids.
- Manage tool tracking program for warehouse and field inventory.
- Manager tool and equipment repair costs.
- Conduct daily inventory audits and reconcile against purchase orders and project usage.
- Perform daily walkthroughs of warehouse and yard, ensuring safety, accessibility, and cleanliness.
- Verify daily equipment inspections are completed, ensure all operators possess valid certifications (forklift).
- Provide training to new warehouse employees on standard operating procedures, proper use of tools, power tools, and equipment, as well as all required safety practices.
- Supervise warehouse employees, assigning daily tasks, managing performance, and coaching.
- Implement and maintain theft prevention, loss control, and damage mitigation.
- Enforce compliance with OSHA regulations, SDS requirements, and company safety protocols, including proper use of tools, power tools, and equipment, safe lifting techniques, PPE usage, and facility procedures.
- Oversee the maintenance and organization of the warehouse and yard.
- Maintain clear communication across internal teams to ensure fulfillment and logistics run smoothly and on time.
- Prepare and deliver reports on inventory levels, tools, power tools, and equipment status, and operational metrics.
- Champion continuous improvement efforts.
- Support special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
- May work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Frequent exposure to medium to heavy machinery with moving parts.
- Work may take place around moving objects, vehicles, and construction activity.
- Possible exposure to dampness, humidity, dust, and other environmental factors.
- Surfaces may be slippery or uneven at times.
- Physical activities include sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, up to 60lbs, and reaching on a regular basis.

- Regular exposure to noise, dust, and typical construction site conditions.
- Strict adherence to safety protocols and the consistent use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
