General Functions:
The Case Management Supervisor is responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and supervising Case Managers I, II, III & IV who provide essential services to Alaska Native and American Indian participants in TANF, General Assistance, and Employment and Supportive Services programs. This position assists in service development, implementation, and evaluation while ensuring accurate and timely statistical data capture for all 477 Services. Working in partnership with our people, the Case Management Supervisor helps develop opportunities that fulfill our endless potential by leading a team dedicated to participant self-sufficiency and success. The role requires strong leadership abilities, analytical skills, and commitment to maintaining service excellence standards.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Case Managers I & II who provide services to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), General Assistance and Employment and Supportive Services participants through goal development, training plan implementation, performance coaching, and annual evaluations.
  • Maintain working knowledge of TANF policies and procedures by participating in ongoing training and assume designated responsibilities in the absence of the Manager.
  • Create standards of excellence through continuous encouragement of staff development, certification, continuing education, and hands-on training.
  • Conduct bi-weekly supervision meetings with direct reports to assess goal achievement and identify training needs while providing performance coaching.
  • Monitor and coordinate training opportunities, file reviews, caseload assignments, and staff scheduling to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Assist staff with capturing participants' countable work activity data and monitor work participation rates, monthly contacts, and service timeframes for compliance.
  • Monitor supportive services budget, process extensions and TA-10s, and ensure expenditures align with current policies and procedures.
  • Submit required data and narrative reports monthly, quarterly, and annually while maintaining accuracy in all statistical reporting.
  • Partner with local colleges, vocational centers, and employers to develop training and employment opportunities for participants.
  • Conduct participant orientations and develop self-sufficiency plans as needed to support team caseload maintenance.
  • Lead monthly staff meetings and attend department supervisory team meetings to ensure aligned service delivery.
  • Escalate policy issues to Senior Manager as appropriate and provide constructive feedback from file reviews.
  • Update and maintain all staffing calendars, including appointment tracking systems for effective resource management.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team with co-workers, partner agencies, and participants using integrated service approaches.
  • Maintain confidentiality according to all state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform all related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining team collaboration.
Minimum Core Competencies:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Continued employment is contingent upon completion of satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Human Resource Management, Social Work, Vocational Education, or closely related field. Relevant work experience may substitute for education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license and insurable under CITC's automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver's license for at least three years.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Human Services, Human Resource Management, Social Work, Vocational Education, or closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of job coaching or employment counseling experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in social work and workforce development.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and consistently working on a computer with repetitive motion.
  • The need to occasionally move around the office to access filing cabinets, storage cabinets, and office equipment may be necessary.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner.
