Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor or Electrical Superintendent to oversee electrical construction activities on utility-scale solar projects. This individual will manage field crews and subcontractors, coordinate electrical installations, and ensure that all work is completed safely, accurately, and according to project schedules, drawings, and quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have strong electrical construction leadership experience involving solar PV systems, medium-voltage equipment, substations, inverters, transformers, underground cabling, and project commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily electrical construction activities on utility-scale solar projects.
- Lead electricians, foremen, field crews, and electrical subcontractors.
- Oversee the installation of DC and AC electrical systems, including cabling, combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, switchgear, grounding systems, and substations.
- Review electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, specifications, and construction plans.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, tools, equipment, and daily work assignments.
- Monitor project progress and ensure electrical work remains on schedule.
- Perform field inspections and verify that installations meet project specifications, NEC requirements, and applicable electrical codes.
- Identify construction issues, develop corrective-action plans, and coordinate resolutions with engineering and project management teams.
- Enforce site safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and company HSE policies.
- Conduct daily safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and pre-task planning.
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, engineering, quality-control, and commissioning teams.
- Support testing and commissioning of inverters, transformers, switchgear, collection systems, and other electrical equipment.
- Manage punch-list completion, system turnover, and closeout activities.
- Maintain daily reports, progress updates, inspection records, and construction documentation.
- Ensure subcontractors meet safety, quality, productivity, and scheduling expectations.
- Participate in owner, contractor, and project-management meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Five or more years of electrical construction experience.
- At least three years of experience in an Electrical Supervisor, Superintendent, General Foreman, or similar leadership role.
- Previous solar PV, renewable-energy, power-generation, or large-scale industrial construction experience.
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems, grounding, underground cabling, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and medium-voltage systems.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, specifications, and construction schedules.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and electrical safety requirements.
- Experience managing electrical crews and subcontractors in an active construction environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel regularly and work at active construction sites.
- Valid driver’s license.
