Role Description The Building Automation Service Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Omaha, NE. This role is responsible for installing, configuring, inspecting, and servicing building automation systems and related controls in commercial, industrial, institutional, and health care facilities. Daily tasks include performing preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnosing and resolving system issues, calibrating sensors and field devices, and ensuring optimal performance of HVAC, environmental control, and security systems. The technician will document service activities, provide clear status updates, and collaborate with project managers and other team members to complete work efficiently and safely. The role also involves regular interaction with customers to explain findings, recommend solutions, and support a positive service experience.
Qualifications
- Strong Maintenance & Repair and Maintenance skills for building automation systems and related equipment.
- Proficient Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues with HVAC, controls, and electronic security systems.
- Field Service experience, including working on-site at customer facilities and managing service visits independently.
- Effective Customer Service skills to communicate clearly, set expectations, and maintain professional relationships with clients.
- Knowledge of building automation, HVAC controls, and basic electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
- Comfort with using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and relevant software for monitoring and configuration.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to customer sites as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field (e.g., HVAC, electronics, controls) is preferred.
- Commitment to safety practices and adherence to company and site-specific safety requirements.
- Available for local or regional travel.
Qualifications:
- The minimum of a high school diploma or a two-year technical degree in HVAC, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Electronics, Or Construction.
- Other technical experience such as military, or other construction experience
- The ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- State of Nebraska Journeyman's license.
- Must have driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Organized, punctual, reliable and able to work independently.
