What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Media Culture Strategist position at Contrarian Thinking?
Position Overview
Do you send TikToks & IG’s before they hit the mainstream? Can you spot a trend before it peaks and turn a business idea into a scroll-stopping viral moment? We’re looking for a creative executor who thrives in chaos — someone who can take an idea from concept to posted in hours, not days.
This is for the person who studies TikTok’s & IG’s every quirk, understands what makes people stop scrolling, and wants to help build one of the most influential business brands online.
You’ll report directly to our Short Form Manager and work closely with our video editors, talent, and design team to make TikTok the testing ground for ideas that dominate across platforms.
What You’ll Own
- Execute and manage daily TikTok content creation and posting, from raw moments with Codie to trend-driven short-form videos
- Work to get emails and conversions from TikTok direct to our companies.
- Spot trends early and adapt them to fit Codie’s brand in business, finance, and entrepreneurship
- Pull viral hooks and moments from long-form content (podcasts, speeches, YouTube) and reimagine them for TikTok
- Collaborate with the Instagram and YouTube Shorts leads to repurposing top-performing videos
- Film natively for TikTok — capturing authentic, in-the-moment footage paired with trending sounds, captions, and effects
- Write punchy, high-retention captions that maximize engagement
- Monitor TikTok analytics daily to identify what’s working and double down
- Work with editors to test multiple versions of high-potential clips
- Own the TikTok “testing lab” — the place where we find what hits before scaling to other platforms
- [Bonus] Design eye for TikTok grids, carousels, and text-on-screen visuals that make the content stand out visually
What We’re Looking For
- Deep understanding of TikTok’s algorithm, trend cycles, and retention strategies
- Experience creating short-form content that has grown a brand or personal account
- Ability to spot viral angles in any piece of content — even the “boring” ones
- Familiarity or willingness to learn about business, finance, and entrepreneurship
- Comfortable filming with talent and capturing spontaneous moments
- Fast executor who thrives in testing environments where some ideas flop and others take off
- Bonus: Basic skills in Canva, CapCut, After Effects, or Figma for visual and grid design
