Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position located in Brea, CA, for a Director of Environmental Health, Safety & Worker’s Compensation. The role involves overseeing workplace safety programs, managing workers' compensation cases, developing and implementing health and safety policies, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. The Director will also be responsible for compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, conducting health education and training programs, and collaborating with all levels of the organization to drive health and safety initiatives.
Position Summary
The Director of Environmental Health, Safety & Workers’ Compensation is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for designing, implementing, and scaling a comprehensive safety and workers’ compensation program across a multi-site hospitality services operation.
This role oversees injury prevention, regulatory compliance, claims management, and return-to-work programs, with a strong focus on reducing workplace incidents, mitigating risk, and driving cost containment across a high-volume, field-based workforce.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, establish scalable workflows, and implement efficient processes for claims management and safety operations.
The Director partners closely with Operations, HR, Legal, and third-party administrators (TPAs) to ensure a proactive, compliant, and employee-centered approach to workplace safety and injury management.
Compensation: $130,000 -150,000 Exempt Annual
Workers’ Compensation & Claims Management
• Oversee end-to-end workers’ compensation program, including intake, investigation, and resolution of claims
• Partner with TPAs, carriers, and legal counsel to ensure timely and cost-effective claims handling
• Analyze claims data and trends to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
• Ensure proper documentation, compliance, and audit readiness across all claims
• Design and implement structured workflows and scalable processes to improve efficiency and consistency in claims management
Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
• Develop dashboards and KPIs related to incident rates, claim frequency/severity, and lost time
• Use data insights to drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide regular reporting to executive leadership
• Leverage emerging technologies, including AI-driven tools where appropriate, to enhance claims analysis, risk identification, and operational efficiency
Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of progressive experience in workers’ compensation, safety, or risk
management
· Strong experience in hospitality, janitorial, facilities services, or other high-volume hourly
environments
· Deep knowledge of California workers’ compensation laws and OSHA/Cal-OSHA regulations
· Proven track record of reducing claims costs and improving safety outcomes
· Experience managing TPAs, brokers, and insurance carriers
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset
· Ability to influence and partner with field operations leaders in a fast-paced environment
· Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and
drive cross-functional initiatives
· Experience establishing workflows and operational processes to improve efficiency and scalability
· Experience with or exposure to AI tools and technologies is a plus
· Spanish communication skills (verbal and written) required
