TECHNICAL BUSINESS ANALYST

Position Summary:

The Technical Business Analyst partners with business stakeholders to evaluate, document, optimize, and automate business processes through AI and workflow automation initiatives. This role serves as a bridge between technical teams and business units, translating operational pain points into structured requirements, process maps, and scalable workflow solutions. The role combines strong analytical and communication skills with systems knowledge to identify inefficiencies, recommend automation opportunities, and help oversee implementation efforts with internal developers or third-party vendors. Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required for critical issues or project rollouts. This is a fully remote role.

About This Opportunity:

This is a newly created role supporting several major organizational initiatives, including advancing AI and automation capabilities, improving operational consistency, and building scalable process documentation. Leadership is seeking someone who can guide AI tool adoption responsibly and strategically — partnering with internal departments to identify where technology can drive real efficiency gains. This individual will help establish a foundation of structured workflows and reusable documentation that improves onboarding and long-term scalability.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Gather functional and business requirements from cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Conduct process discovery sessions and workflow assessments.
  • Develop current-state (“as-is”) and future-state (“to-be”) process maps.
  • Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for automation or AI-driven improvements.
  • Recommend data-driven process enhancements aligned with business strategy.
  • Partner with internal developers or third-party vendors to oversee implementation efforts.
  • Create scalable documentation and process standards that improve knowledge retention and onboarding.
  • Extract, analyze, and interpret data from enterprise systems to support decision-making.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and KPIs to measure process effectiveness.
  • Perform root cause analysis on data discrepancies or operational issues.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and quality across systems.
  • Configure and support workflow automation tools where applicable.
  • Participate in testing, validation, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, workflows, and process standards.
  • Serve as liaison between business units and technical teams.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions to align stakeholders.
  • Provide end-user training and documentation for new processes or system changes.
  • Support change management initiatives related to system and process improvements.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • 3–5 years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, process improvement, or workflow optimization.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to translate operational pain points into structured documentation.
  • Experience gathering requirements, mapping workflows, and producing process documentation.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and workflow automation platforms; ability to evaluate and recommend solutions.
  • Proficiency with process mapping and workflow design tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, BPMN platforms).
  • SQL and data analysis skills; experience with reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Knowledge of data governance and data management best practices.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in information systems, business administration, data analytics, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP, CRM, or enterprise systems a plus.
  • Industry background in construction, environmental services, oil & gas, energy, or adjacent operational industries is a plus but not required.

Physical Demands:

The following physical activities or abilities are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. The actual requirements of this position will vary.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, co-workers, and vendors, both individually and in front of a group.
  • Good reasoning ability and decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
  • Regular use of phone, email, and video conferencing tools for communication.
  • Sitting for extended periods.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer, extensive reading, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, and process documentation.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Job success often hinges upon interpersonal communication and relationship development skills.
