Position Summary :

The Community Support Team Certified Peer Specialist here at Continuum Care Services Inc. plays a vital role in supporting individuals navigating their recovery journey in the behavioral health and addiction counseling fields. The Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of activities and programs for the benefit, support, and enhancement of life quality for individuals supported primarily in their living environments and include but are not limited to behavioral interventions such as modeling, behavior modification, and behavior rehearsal. The primary role of this position is to serve on a team comprised of three (3) staff persons qualified to provide services to adults (age 18 and older, for State funded, for Medicaid –funded services for adults begin at age 21) with mental health and substance abuse issues. The team provides rehabilitative services and supports the necessary to assist adults in achieving rehabilitation and recovery goals.

Position Status (Availability ): Full-time, Part-time, or per diem (as needed)

Work Hours : Open, flexible scheduling; General Office hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm; Community-based service hours may extend until 8:00pm seasonally (i.e. during spring and summer months) when daylight hours are longer; weekend availability for candidates who prefer weekends

Compensation Structure : $16.00 per hour

Required Education : High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience:

  • Assisting with crisis interventions (provide crisis interventions to deescalate the current crisis)
  • Maintaining records and charting on each individual and reporting unusual and critical incidents in a professional, timely manner (within 24 hours)
  • Assisting the Team Leader with behavioral and substance abuse interventions
  • Assisting with the development of relapse prevention and disease management strategies
  • Participating in the initial development, implementation, and ongoing revision of the Person-Centered Plan
  • Must have one year of experience working with those in recovery from significant substance use
  • One year lived experience in recovery

Occupational Certification/Licenses :

  • Must have and maintain a current Valid Certified Peer Support Specialist certification by North Carolina CPSS Program
  • Valid current North Carolina Driver's License
