Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Marine Construction Quality Control Manager to oversee quality assurance and quality control processes for marine and waterfront construction projects throughout Southeast Florida. This role is responsible for ensuring all work is completed in accordance with project specifications, contract requirements, regulatory standards, and company quality expectations.
The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, clients, and inspectors to maintain the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance while supporting successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage project-specific Quality Control (QC) plans.
- Perform field inspections to verify compliance with project specifications, contract documents, and applicable regulations.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure quality standards are consistently met.
- Identify, document, and resolve quality deficiencies and non-conforming work.
- Coordinate inspections with owners, engineers, regulatory agencies, and third-party inspectors.
- Prepare and maintain quality control documentation, reports, inspection records, and project logs.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards, safety requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with project management and field personnel to proactively address quality concerns.
- Assist in developing corrective and preventive action plans when quality issues arise.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on quality performance.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives throughout all phases of construction.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of quality control practices, inspection standards, and compliance requirements within marine or heavy civil construction.
- Experience interpreting construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices in marine construction environments.
- Experience preparing project documentation, reports, and quality records.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with project teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience in marine, waterfront, bridge, or heavy civil construction.
- Quality Control certifications (such as USACE CQM-C) are highly desirable.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or other industry certifications are considered a plus.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout Southeast Florida
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
