What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician position at CONTI TESTING LABORATORIES INC?
Acting under the supervision of the lab supervisor, this position performs both routine and specialized sample preparation and analysis of organic and inorganic materials (excluding biological) following ASTM and Industry Standards, using ICP-MS, Analytical Balances, Sulfur Analyzers, Mercury Analyzers, Plastometers, Wet Chemistry, etc.
*** Evening Shift ***
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine laboratory analyses in accordance with analytical methodologies and CTL’s SOPs.
- Assist the Lead Analyst and Technical Director in the development of specialized testing protocols.
- Qualify through performance of an initial DOC and annual recertification for the analyses performed.
- Routinely meet all of the QA/QC requirements for the analyses performed.
- Participate in PE and PT studies.
- Conform to all the laboratory safety requirements outlined in the Health and Safety Handbook and/or the analytical method.
- Perform sample analysis in a timely fashion, meeting any applicable analytical holding times and project due dates.
- Keep accurate documentation on all sample data and analytical conditions under which it was performed.
- Perform and document daily calibration checks.
- Perform and document routine equipment maintenance.
- Notify supervisor regarding instrument, analysis, and/or data issues.
- Follow up on corrective actions and institute preventative actions to ensure issues are resolved.
- Clean up after completion of analysis and keep work areas neat and tidy.
- Effectively communicate with employees in all work areas regarding the status of samples/projects.
- Work as a team member with all CTL employees.
- Promote a positive attitude regarding CTL’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Position requires on the job training in the SOPs and methodologies performed at CTL.
- Chemistry background
- Basic computer skills.
- Work evening shift.
