Warehouse Lead

Overview

The primary purpose of the Warehouse Lead is to be part of the Warehouse Team working in any of the following functions: receiving, put up, picking, or shipping with minimal leadership responsibilities. Primary responsibility of the off shift will be the picking of orders and packaging of shipments in preparation for next day outbound.

Responsibilities

• Assists the warehouse associates with daily work activities and coordinates/streamlines workflow.
• Works directly with the Transportation Coordinators to prioritize warehouse tasks.
• Acquires basic understanding and utilization of current inventory system.
• Directs and assists with loading and unloading materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
• Directs and assists with palletizing products for shipping/storage using proper techniques to ensure safe handling.
• Maintains Cleaning Logs and Hyster sign-offs logs.
• Ensures warehouse associates are properly trained on picking, pulling, and put up of warehouse material.
• Coordinates and assists with loading and/or unloading trucks.
• Performs functional duties such as product consolidation, cycle counting, and housekeeping within the warehouse.
• Investigates and resolves inventory discrepancies.
• Orders pallets needed for shipping and receiving.
• Participates and works within ISO 9001 quality standard guidelines in accordance with Contec’s quality goals.
• Other duties may be assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to perform simple arithmetic in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and at least one-year related experience working in a warehouse; leadership experience preferred.
