Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in their daily activities and promoting their independence. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Provide patient observation and monitoring, ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals under your care.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and skill development.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
- Document care plans and progress notes accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Support individuals with mobility challenges, including the use of assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts.
- Provide transportation to appointments and activities
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' mental well-being.
Requirements
- Previous experience in caregiving, home health, or assisted living settings is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, or dementia is a plus.
- Strong skills in patient monitoring, vital signs assessment, and meal preparation are essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client assistance.
- Familiarity with social work principles and long-term care practices is beneficial.
