About the Position
This position is funded through the Massachusetts Consumer-Directed Personal Care Attendant (PCA) Program. Payroll is processed through Tempus Unlimited.
(New Bedford - 02740) - Our family is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide one-on-one care for our 92-year-old mother in her home. She has dementia and diabetes and wishes to remain safely and comfortably at home with the support of caring individuals.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care and activities of daily living
- Provide companionship and engage in conversation
- Assist with mobility and ensure a safe environment
- Prepare meals and snacks
- Perform housekeeping related to the client's care
- Monitor blood glucose levels before meals
- Assist with blood glucose monitoring and insulin pen administration according to the established care plan (training provided)
- Assist with scheduled medications
- Observe and report any changes in condition to the family
Qualifications
- Compassionate, patient, dependable, and trustworthy
- Experience caring for older adults or individuals with dementia is preferred
- Experience with diabetes care is helpful but not required
- Willingness to learn blood glucose monitoring, insulin pen administration, and medication assistance (training provided)
- Must qualify for employment through the Tempus Unlimited PCA Program
- Reliable transportation and punctuality required

Pay: From $19.50 per hour
