Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to foster independence and dignity.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing for changes, and reporting findings to healthcare teams promptly.
- Administer medications following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and confidentiality.
- Support residents during meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met in a safe and respectful manner.
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and perform heavy lifting safely to support mobility and prevent injury.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control protocols.
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and assist in developing or updating individualized care plans.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, or other developmental disabilities to promote mental well-being.
- Participate in patient observation for signs of distress or deterioration, including memory care needs or hospice-related concerns.
- Follow all safety procedures including CPR and first aid certification requirements to respond effectively during emergencies.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance are a plus.
- Experience with Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, or working with individuals with autism or disabilities is advantageous.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks consistently.
- Strong communication skills coupled with compassionate caregiving approach to support diverse resident needs.
- Demonstrated understanding of healthcare regulations including HIPAA standards and confidentiality protocols.
