Job Summary
Constructors is looking for a high performing Plant Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. This person will be responsible for maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting for the plant, equipment and other related areas of various asphalt and concrete plants. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Independently determines the need and performs basic repair, service and related work on mechanical, plumbing, electrical and production equipment.
Ensures safe and efficient operation of the plant through maintenance, inspection and repair of the equipment and operating conditions of the asphalt and concrete plants.
Performs scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance and adjustments of selected equipment and fixtures as well as operational testing and verification to specific standards.
Operates a front-end loader, forklift, manlift, skid-loader, rough terrain forklift, motor grader and other equipment according to requirements of the current need.
Abide by all Lockout/Tagout programs and procedures followed at all plant locations.
Uses various hand tools and test equipment periodically to analyze, evaluate and correct malfunctions with various systems, devices and/or instruments.
Assists with mobile plant moves, including setup and teardown.
Preps sites according to site plans and layouts using a motor grader and other equipment as needed.
Complete maintenance and repair logs.
Performs multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to details.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
- previous experience operating construction machinery or equipment; or
- equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid NE driver’s license and be insurable under the company’s insurance plan.
- Forklift, Loader, Respirator certifications helpful. Must be able to complete requirements of the Company certification programs and pass test(s) in a reasonable period of time.
- Must be able to pass respiratory function test for working in confined areas.
- CDL License helpful but not required.
Other Qualifications:
- Must be mechanically inclined with previous experience troubleshooting machinery and equipment.
- Have skills in welding and fabrication, electrical, mechanical and plumbing to perform the tasks as needed.
- Must have basic knowledge of the operation and maintenance of small diesel motors and standard motor vehicles.
- Must be able to operate hand tools.
- Must have ability to read electrical and plant drawings.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to climb a ladder up to 110 feet.
Other Skills & Abilities
- Must have a good sense of detail and work maintain a clean and safe plant environment.
- Ability to read and comprehend work orders, SDS sheets and the company safety manual.
- Ability to understand work direction yet work independently.
- Must understand basic numbers and math.
- Ability to apply common sense and implement sound troubleshooting skills to analyze, evaluate and diagnose a problem.
- Ability to distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions.
