Organizational Profile

The Construction Career Collaborative (“C3”) (www.C3.org) is a voluntary alliance of socially responsible Owners, Contractors, and Specialty Contractors whose mission is to positively address the issues facing craft workers in the commercial construction industry. By creating “owner demand” for the requirements needed to grow and maintain a qualified workforce, C3 serves as a platform for commercial and institutional building owners, educational institutions, commercial construction firms, and affiliated organizations to establish and enforce standards for skills and safety training.

Position Overview

Role Summary: The Workforce Development Specialist plays a crucial role in implementing the C3 Craft Training Endorsement and guiding C3 Accredited Employers in earning the endorsement for their organization. Your responsibilities will involve reviewing and evaluating company training programs for Craft Training Endorsement, helping companies to leverage templates and best practices to build or enrich talent management programs, recommending relevant training courses, and working closely with the Talent Management Committee to identify the current needs of craft workers in commercial construction. This role will require effective communication and management of company enrollments in the craft training endorsement process, as well as consulting with companies to design and implement craft training and training management programs. Additionally, staying up to date on training trends and best practices will be essential to excel in this position.

Internal relationships: Reports to the Marketing & Development Director and has regular interaction with C3 staff. Work closely with the other Workforce Development Specialists to ensure companies achieve the Craft Training Endorsement.

External Relationships: Maintains personal contact with Accredited Employers and the C3 Craft Training Committee to the greatest degree possible to deliver the craft training endorsement program and other workforce initiatives. Works with the C3 Educational Advisory Committee as needed. This role may involve some contact with elected Officers and the Board of Directors and its Committees.

Position Role and Responsibilities

Accountabilities

Deliver Talent Management Programs for C3 Accredited Employers: Guide and coach C3 Accredited Employers in creating or improving Craft Training Programs, providing best practices tailored to the size and needs of each organization. Play an active role in the ongoing development and implementation of the craft training framework through participation in the craft training committee. Conduct Craft Training Endorsement Reviews for C3 Accredited Employers.

Craft Training Endorsement Administration: Manage and report on the progress and contact hours related to the implementation of CTE (Craft Training Endorsement) programs with C3 Accredited Employers. Facilitate communication between C3 and C3 Accredited Employers regarding submission, approval, and creation of craft training programs. Maintain comprehensive records for individual Accredited Employers who are seeking or have earned a craft training endorsement.

Community Relations: Contribute to initiatives that advance the C3 mission and vision, with a specific focus on Craft Training for the commercial construction workforce.

Workforce Development: Proven experience in workforce development, talent management, consulting on talent management/workforce development, apprenticeship building and implementation, and talent acquisition strategies. Strong ability to maintain composure and flexibility while displaying passion, integrity, commitment to the Mission, and drive to deliver a positive, differentiated service that improves our customers’ ability to attract and retain craft workforce talent.

Craft Training Expertise: Familiarity with on-the-job training strategies and career paths for skilled positions. Ability to assess training programs for endorsement against the C3 Craft Training Framework.

Communication and Relationship Building: Excellent communication skills with the ability to actively listen, empathize, build trust, establish rapport, and effectively de-escalate customer objections.

Project Management: Clearly prioritizes and manages assigned workload to keep training contacts and other involved parties informed, documents thought process and daily activity, and provides timely response to Accredited Employers. Ability to prioritize and multitask while navigating through multiple business applications utilizing computer technology such as Microsoft Office, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software. (Zoom, Salesforce, Google Suite, etc.) Demonstrates advanced organizational and time management skills to manage case inventory to ensure timely endorsement of Accredited Employers.

Industry Knowledge: Curiosity that drives staying current in training trends, best practices, and developments within the commercial construction industry.

Informing: Provides the information designated Accredited Employer contacts need to complete their Craft Training Endorsement requirements within the allotted timeframe. This position requires a responsive mindset to provide business partners with timely, pertinent information so they can make accurate decisions. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in craft training programs and frameworks.

Perseverance: Pursues everything with energy, drive, and a need to finish; seldom gives up before finishing, especially in the face of resistance or setbacks. Proficiency in time management and accurate record-keeping, while adapting to process changes and shifting priorities, is critical to success in this role.

Experience and Education

Experience Required:

· Five (5) to eight (8) years’ progressive experience required. Minimum of two (2) years of professional workforce development training, human resources development, and project/program management experience.

· Knowledge of and proficiency with MS Office Suite and Canva.

· Knowledge of Salesforce is a plus.

· Knowledge or experience in the nonprofit and/or construction industry is a plus.

Education Required:

· Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Human Resources, Workforce Development, Construction Management).

· 2-4 years of experience in workforce development, talent management, or related roles within the construction sector.
