Sr. Cost Accountant

Constellation Search Group is looking for a Senior Cost Accountant for a full-time direct hire position. The Senior Cost Accountant will lead cost accounting operations within a multi-site manufacturing environment, playing a critical role in inventory valuation, standard costing, and cost of goods sold analysis. This position partners closely with operations, supply chain, and plant leadership to ensure accurate product costing, improve gross margins, and drive financial performance. The role involves supporting multiple manufacturing locations on-site.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain standard costing systems, including material, labor, and overhead allocation methodologies.
• Perform cost roll-ups, bill of materials analysis, and routing reviews to maintain accurate costing structures for over 5,000 individual SKUs.
• Analyze cost of goods sold, manufacturing variances, purchase price variances, and production variances.
• Oversee inventory accounting for raw materials, work in process, and finished goods, ensuring accurate inventory valuation.
• Lead inventory reconciliations and support physical inventory counts.
• Maintain the company's fixed asset records, ensuring accurate accounting and timely depreciation schedules.
• Analyze product sales costs (margin analysis), investigate unusual items, and recommend changes in BOMs or potential for margin improvements.
• Become a power user of the ERP system regarding product costing, variance reporting, project accounting, and general ledger.
• Prepare and post journal entries, analyze and reconcile accounts, assist in month-end closing, annual budgets, and audits.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and support CI projects using LEAN/Six Sigma techniques.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Accounting.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• General accounting experience, including processing journal entries, account accruals, reconciliations, and month-end closing.
• Manufacturing accounting experience, including standard costing, manufacturing variances, and inventory control.
• Experience using an ERP system that integrates production with accounting; IQMS experience is a plus.
• Power user of Excel and report writing software.
• Experience or interest in working in a continuous improvement environment using LEAN/Six Sigma.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
