Constellation Search Group is looking for an Associate Director, Generative AI Engineer for a full-time direct hire position. The Associate Director will lead the integration of advanced AI technologies within the organization to drive innovation in the pharmaceutical industry. This role involves creating business-facing experiences to highlight the value of large language models (LLMs) in various operations and developing the organization's Generative AI roadmap. The Associate Director will lead a team of AI professionals, fostering collaboration across enterprise support functions.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the enterprise Generative AI roadmap in partnership with senior leadership.
- Identify and prioritize high-impact business problems suitable for Generative AI solutions.
- Translate business objectives into executable Generative AI strategies and delivery plans.
- Lead, mentor, and scale teams of AI engineers and data scientists.
- Establish hiring, onboarding, and performance standards for Generative AI talent.
- Determine appropriate LLM architectures and complexity based on use case requirements.
- Establish technical standards, reference architectures, and reusable patterns for Generative AI solutions.
- Lead prompt engineering, evaluation, and optimization to improve model performance and reliability.
- Prototype, test, and iterate on LLM-powered workflows to refine user experience and adoption.
- Lead development of LLM fine-tuning, RAG pipelines, and supporting data architectures.
- Design automated processes for model validation, deployment, and lifecycle management.
- Influence AI/ML platform and tooling decisions to maximize enterprise LLM value.
- Contribute to forward-looking discussions on emerging ML and Generative AI techniques.
- Partner with product, engineering, data, and business teams to deliver Generative AI capabilities iteratively.
- Guide engineering teams in executing against the Generative AI roadmap.
- Engage subject matter experts to ensure domain-aligned AI solutions.
- Educate executive and functional leaders on Generative AI capabilities, risks, and opportunities.
- Apply strong analytical, problem-solving, and software engineering skills to business challenges.
- Stay current on advancements in LLMs and Generative AI and translate them into practical applications.
- Communicate findings, trade-offs, and results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related quantitative field (PhD preferred).
- 10 years of hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and modern data science tooling.
- 8 years designing, training, and deploying ML and deep learning systems, including LLM fine-tuning.
- Experience building AI/ML systems on cloud platforms and working with modern data visualization tools.
- Proven ability to build, lead, and influence cross-functional technical teams.
- Strong grounding in machine learning, software engineering, and production-grade AI best practices.
