Project Accountant

A well-established construction organization in Newport Beach is looking to hire a Project Accountant to support project financial operations and help drive accuracy across budgeting, reporting, and cost control. Key Responsibilities
- Manage project accounting functions from project setup through closeout
- Track project costs, budgets, commitments, and change orders
- Prepare and maintain job cost reports, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Support monthly billing, invoice processing, and accounts payable related to projects
- Reconcile project transactions and ensure financial records remain accurate and up to date
- Partner with project managers and operations teams to review budgets, cost variances, and financial performance
- Assist with month-end close and prepare project-related journal entries
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and company accounting procedures
- Support audit requests and provide documentation as needed
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Project Accountant within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of job costing, project billing, and budget tracking
- Experience working closely with project managers and operational teams
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience with construction ERP or project accounting software
- Knowledge of contract types, change orders, and construction financial processes
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
