Are you a detail-oriented finance leader with a strong background in cost accounting? We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our team in Dresser, WI. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, driving financial performance, and providing strategic insight to senior management.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the CFO/President, the Controller will manage the full accounting function with a particular emphasis on cost accounting and operational finance. You will partner closely with operations, purchasing, and leadership to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll
- Lead and manage the cost accounting function, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
- Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support business decision-making
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and all relevant regulatory requirements
- Manage the year-end close process and liaise with external auditors
- Analyse manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls across all financial processes
- Provide strategic financial guidance to senior leadership and department heads
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a high-performance culture
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or senior accounting role
- Demonstrated expertise in cost accounting within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Proficiency with ERP systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar platforms an advantage
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively across departments and influence at all levels of the organisation
