The Maintenance Superintendent leads the plant maintenance department to ensure safe, environmentally compliant, and reliable equipment operation through cost-effective maintenance programs. Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, monitor maintenance costs, and address budget variances.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safety Leadership: Promote a safe work environment by enforcing safety protocols, providing proper tools and protective equipment, and fostering safe work behaviors. Set safety goals, investigate incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and communicate findings to employees and management.
- Team Management: Supervise the maintenance team, resolve conflicts, and administer company policies and procedures.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Maintenance Planning: Develop and manage long- and short-term maintenance plans, capital improvements, and outage workflows, including critical path analysis and material requisitions.
- Budget Management: Prepare and track facility maintenance O&M and capital budgets, explain variances, and reforecast as needed.
- Process Optimization: Formulate and implement policies, procedures, and programs to achieve plant and corporate objectives. Oversee work management and reliability-based maintenance programs for continuous improvement.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure QA/QC processes, including welding inspections and review of completed travelers, are performed accurately. Maintain accurate plant documentation and historical records.
- Inventory Management: Optimize material, parts, and equipment inventories to ensure cost-effective facility operations.
- Equipment Reliability: Recommend and implement improvements to equipment design and maintenance procedures to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability. Review technical information letters and update the Machinery Health Report quarterly.
- Training and Support: Assist with maintenance training, qualification programs, and provide emergency support for plant needs.
- Project Involvement: Participate in projects and assignments as directed by the Plant Manager.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned.
