Key Responsibilities
Control System Support
- Assist with Distributed Control System (DCS) configuration checks and alarm management audits.
- Support system backups and troubleshooting of control logic.
- Participate in instrumentation calibration and loop checks during outages.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Compile operational data for performance analysis and reliability improvements.
- Develop dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI and SharePoint.
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Update control system documentation and maintain technical libraries.
- Contribute to technology upgrades and process optimization initiatives.
Safety & Compliance
- Learn and apply OSHA and NFPA safety standards in all tasks.
- Participate in lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.
Work Environment
This position combines office and plant-based tasks. Interns must be able to wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, fall protection harness) and work around rotating equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals. Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required during outages or emergent situations. Remote work is not available.
Housing
Housing will be provided for students who do not live in the area.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
- Familiarity with control systems, PLCs, and instrumentation.
- Basic programming knowledge (SQL, Python, or ladder logic) is a plus.
- Ability to work safely in a plant environment and adhere to PPE requirements.
