Summary
The Attorney Development Director partners with leadership across all offices to drive strategic talent management, attorney development, staffing, evaluations, and retention initiatives. This role plays a key part in advancing department performance, culture, and long-term growth.
Responsibilities
- Advise practice leadership on attorney development, retention strategies, and departmental planning.
- Monitor productivity and growth trends using financial and performance data; collaborate with assigning partners on staffing strategy.
- Oversee the associate and counsel evaluation and promotion processes, including performance management.
- Support lateral attorney integration and career progression within the department.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to associates on professional development, engagement, and workplace matters.
- Manage leaves, secondments, transfers, and alternative work arrangements.
- Analyze attrition trends and conduct exit interviews to inform retention strategy.
- Coordinate department meetings and collaborate with Recruiting, Professional Development, Finance, Inclusion, and Business Development teams.
Requirements
- J.D. required.
- 5 years of Corporate practice experience, preferably in a large law firm.
- 2 years of management experience in training and development, knowledge management or practice resources, preferably in a large law firm. M&A experience is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential matters.
Compensation
- $200,000.00-$275,000.00, annually, plus bonus.
