About This Role
Consertus is seeking a Project Manager II – Sustainability to support a large public-sector capital program from the PMO office in Monterey Park, CA. This role focuses on managing bond-eligible capital construction, modernization, and sustainability projects, and is strictly limited to activities associated with planning, design, construction, commissioning, and closeout. This position does not include routine maintenance, repairs, or operational tasks typically performed by Maintenance & Operations (M&O). You will lead sustainability-focused capital projects in alignment with program requirements, policies, and quality standards, while managing multiple projects simultaneously and reporting performance to program leadership.

About This Role
Consertus is seeking a Project Manager II – Sustainability to support a large public-sector capital program from the PMO office in Monterey Park, CA. You will lead sustainability-focused capital projects in alignment with program requirements, policies, and quality standards, while managing multiple projects simultaneously and reporting performance to program leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage sustainability projects in accordance with program and client policies and procedures.
- Ensure project planning and execution aligns with sustainability goals and initiatives.
- Follow and successfully execute the program Quality Management System (QMS).
- Review and develop contract documents.
- Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and report on construction project performance.
- Document and report all project data accurately and in a timely manner.
- Manage and execute 5–10 projects simultaneously, with values and complexity ranging from $1M to $30M.
- Deliver projects on schedule and within budget; support effective cost control and forecasting.
- Track status of projects and provide management reports related to schedule, cost, staffing, and contract requirements.
- Support project closeout in accordance with DSA and PMO/District protocols (as applicable).
- Review construction site offices and assess team performance and compliance with legal requirements.
- Support dispute resolution recommendations related to construction projects.
- Assist with outreach efforts to communicate information regarding college/program projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing multiple construction projects (including within a large capital improvement program).
- Familiarity with applicable Public Codes relevant to public capital construction.
- BA/BS in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or closely related field.
- Additional qualifying experience beyond the minimum may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
- 2 years’ experience in Educational Facility Construction
- Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)
- Knowledge of the full project lifecycle: master planning, design, construction, closeout
- Experience with alternative delivery methods
- Experience using a web-based project management system
- Experience supporting LEED and/or CHPS projects
- Experience with formal construction partnering
- Experience with DSA construction/design processes (or similar authority having jurisdiction)
- Active California registration as:
- Licensed Architect (California Architectural Board), or
- Professional Engineer (CA Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors)
- CCM credential (Construction Manager Certification Institute – CMCI)
Compensation Range: $137,280 - $143,520 annually; Eligible for Bonus
