About This Role
Consertus is seeking a Construction Inspector to support Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) as part of LAWA’s Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within LAWA’s Tenant Improvement Program, primarily focused on building disciplines within terminal environments. This position requires a strong understanding of construction inspection practices and the ability to interpret and enforce LA City Building Code and ADA requirements. The role is highly field-based in large terminal areas, requiring extensive walking and physical activity throughout each shift.
- Work Schedule: Option 1: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Work Schedule: Option 2: Sunday 10:30 PM – Friday 7:00 AM (overnight shift)
- Location: Los Angeles, CA (LAWA)
- This is an Onsite position.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Cal/OSHA 30-hour training (certificate required)
- Fall protection training (harness lanyard)
- Confined space awareness certification
- NFPA 70E certification required for electrical inspectors (if assigned to electrical-related inspection scope)
- Conduct comprehensive daily construction inspections across building and terminal projects to ensure compliance with codes, plans, specifications, and project requirements.
- Review and interpret construction documents including blueprints/shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting the who/what/when/where/how of construction activities, including progress, issues, deficiencies, and safety concerns.
- Verify contractor compliance with local jurisdiction requirements, applicable building codes, and LAWA proprietary standards.
- Support special inspections and testing activities; coordinate with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies as needed.
- Track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities (as assigned).
- Assist with verifying contractor progress payment requests based on approved schedule of values (as assigned).
- Typical building inspection scope may include (not limited to):
- Demolition and removal of building structures
- Excavation, trenching, shoring
- Grade/elevation survey verification
- Backfill/compaction for underground utilities
- Structural and non-structural concrete, formwork, footings, micro piles
- Sewer and storm drain inspection
- Metal stud framing, drywall, interior finishes
- Doors, hardware, and components
- Ceilings (T-bar, hard lids) and fire-rated components
- Minimum 5 years of construction inspection experience (required).
- Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret LA City Building Code and ADA requirements.
- Proficiency with inspection/document control software and tools, such as:
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Adobe Pro, Bluebeam (preferred/desired)
- PM/document control systems (e.g., PM Web) (preferred/desired)
- Ability to efficiently review contract documents electronically with minimal supervision.
- Ability to write clear, concise documentation and inspection reports.
- ICC certifications and/or Deputy Inspector Licenses (preferred, not required)
- Experience inspecting large-scale airport/public building construction including:
- steel and concrete structures
- architectural finishes and building components
- construction within active terminal/airport operations
- Strong ability to identify deficiencies and ensure corrective action
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills

Salary : $124,800 - $133,120
