Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a hands-on and detail-oriented Accounting Manager, located in Jacksonville, FL. The Accounting Manager will oversee the the daily accounting operations of our Moving & Storage division. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys both performing core accounting tasks and providing oversight of key financial processes. You will support the Vice President - Accounting and serve as the primary on-site accounting lead, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting.
What You'll Do
- Manage daily accounting operations, including journal entries and general ledger reconciliations
- Monitor revenue and expense activity to ensure accurate and timely recording
- Oversee accounts payable and vendor account maintenance
- Manage accounts receivable collections and customer account maintenance
- Process credit applications and provide recommendations to the Vice President
- Perform job costing analysis as needed
- Oversee monthly bank and cash account reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts
- Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing and related reconciliations
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting packages
- Maintain business licenses, insurance renewals, and ensure timely payment of business taxes
- Oversee annual 1099 preparation and filing
- Enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and procedures
- Recommend improvements to strengthen internal controls and operational efficiency
- Prepare spreadsheets, analyses, and ad hoc reports
- Build strong working relationships across the company and demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and professionalism
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting
- Experience with journal entries and fixed assets
- Proficiency with accounting software and Excel
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience managing Financial Statements and preparing accurate financial reports
- Ability to thrive in a small-company environment with multiple responsibilities
- Previous experience in a managerial accounting role is a plus
