This Senior Project Manager role sits within a well-established Highway / Transportation group based in Newark, NJ. As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of complex transportation projects, combining technical leadership, people management, and client-facing responsibility.
You’ll lead design efforts across highway reconstruction, transportation safety projects, intersection improvements, and pedestrian trail projects, while mentoring engineers and playing a hands-on role in business development and future project pursuits.
What you’ll do as a Senior Project Manager
- Lead and deliver transportation design projects, including highway reconstruction, roadway safety, intersection improvements, and pedestrian facilities
- Manage the development of high-quality transportation design documents from concept through final submission
- Direct, manage, and mentor a team of engineers within the highway and transportation group
- Own project management responsibilities including schedules, budgets, staffing, and delivery performance
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and public agencies
- Support business development, proposal preparation, and pursuit strategy alongside regional and department leadership
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and client meeting
What makes you a strong fit
- 10 years of transportation engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Proven ability to deliver transportation improvement projects for local, county, and state agencies
- NJDOT project experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of local and national transportation design standards
- Working understanding of traffic engineering principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
