Location: Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid)
Job Type: 12-Month W2 Contract (Extension Possible)

About the Opportunity

We are hiring an experienced life sciences professional for a contract opportunity supporting clinical research programs within a pharmaceutical environment.

This position sits at the intersection of clinical trial execution, outsourced laboratory services, and operational project management. Rather than conducting laboratory experiments, the individual will work behind the scenes to keep study-related laboratory activities moving forward, coordinate external service providers, and ensure that critical information reaches the appropriate teams.

We are looking for someone who understands the complexities of clinical research, can navigate competing priorities, and takes ownership of resolving problems rather than simply reporting them.

What You'll Be Doing

In this position, you will take responsibility for the operational coordination of laboratory services across ongoing clinical research projects.

Your work will involve maintaining productive relationships with external laboratory partners, monitoring study progress, following up on outstanding deliverables, and addressing issues that could affect research timelines or data quality.

You will also help ensure that clinical specimens and associated information are properly accounted for throughout the study lifecycle. This includes working with different categories of laboratory testing, reviewing information received from service providers, and supporting the timely resolution of inconsistencies.

Additional activities will include overseeing study-related documentation, coordinating approvals, monitoring project expenditures, consolidating operational information, and keeping cross-functional stakeholders informed.

As projects progress toward completion, you will support the finalization of laboratory-related activities and ensure that outstanding requirements are addressed.

The position calls for someone who can assess situations independently, work through complicated operational challenges, and identify more effective ways of managing recurring processes.

What We're Looking For

Education and Industry Background

  • Bachelor's degree in a medical, biological, chemical, or related scientific field.
  • Advanced education in a relevant scientific discipline is advantageous.
  • Approximately 10–15 or more years of professional project/program management experience.
  • Background working in pharmaceuticals, diagnostic services, or a clinical research organization.
  • Practical understanding of clinical research activities and the operational requirements associated with regulated studies.

Professional Capabilities

  • Proven experience taking ownership of complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and external partners.
  • Ability to evaluate problems, determine appropriate next steps, and drive solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Confidence working with detailed scientific or operational information where accuracy is essential.
  • Strong Excel skills for organizing, combining, reviewing, and communicating data.
  • Experience managing documentation, deliverables, project costs, and changing priorities.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to maintain effective relationships across different teams.
  • A structured, detail-oriented approach combined with sound judgment and independent decision-making.

Experience working with outsourced clinical laboratories, research samples, or laboratory-related study deliverables would be particularly relevant.

Additional Information

This is an individual-contributor, office-based clinical operations position, not a laboratory bench role or a people-management position.

Candidates must already reside within commuting distance of Indianapolis and be comfortable with a hybrid work schedule. Relocation is not available.

We welcome applications from experienced clinical research professionals whose backgrounds align with the operational and project management requirements described above.
