Job Title: Receiving Quality Inspector
Shift: 1st Shift role with a 30-minute lunch break, 7:30 to 4:00, or 8:00 to 4:30.
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Receiving Quality Inspector to support our incoming materials inspection process during a high-volume period. In this hands-on role, you will perform quality inspections on incoming parts and raw materials using basic metrology tools to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and quality standards. This position focuses on small precision components and plays a key role in maintaining product quality from the point of receipt.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform receiving inspections on incoming parts, including screws, springs, O-rings, small machined items, fasteners, and similar hardware/components.
- Conduct visual inspections and dimensional measurements using basic metrology tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, pin gauges, thread gauges, and other precision hand tools.
- Verify incoming raw materials (e.g., metals, plastics, or other stock) against supplier certification records, material test reports (MTRs), certificates of conformance (CoCs), and purchase order requirements.
- Compare received items to blueprints, specifications, purchase orders, and quality standards to confirm quantity, part numbers, dimensions, material certifications, and absence of defects or damage.
- Identify and document non-conformances, defects, or discrepancies; segregate and quarantine non-conforming material as required.
- Accurately record inspection results, complete inspection reports, and maintain detailed documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with returning unacceptable materials to suppliers and communicating discrepancies when needed.
- Support general receiving activities, such as unloading/organizing shipments, labeling accepted parts, and ensuring proper storage to maintain traceability and prevent damage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the receiving/inspection zone.
- Follow all company quality policies, safety guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or vocational training in quality inspection, metrology, or manufacturing is a plus.
- 1 years of experience in quality inspection, receiving inspection, or a related manufacturing/quality role preferred.
- Hands-on experience using basic metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) for dimensional inspection.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify visual and dimensional defects.
- Basic computer skills for data entry, record-keeping, and using inspection software or ERP systems (experience with inventory/quality systems is a plus).
- Good written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and interacting with team members/suppliers.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems or similar standards.
- Experience inspecting small precision parts (screws, springs, O-rings, machined components).
- Knowledge of material certifications and supplier quality documentation.
