Job Summary:
The Pardon Project Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and coordinating of the activities of the Pardon Project of Berks County. Responsibilities include assessment, enrollment and oversight of pardon applicants, training Pardon Coaches, and providing coordination between pardon applicants and Pardon Coaches.
The Pardon Project Coordinator is also responsible for providing workforce development programming and ancillary service and support to individuals referred to our reentry programming. The Pardon Project Coordinator will work with referred individuals on an individualized employment plan, deliver a series of one-on-one lessons covering employment preparedness education, financial literacy, deliver an evidenced informed curriculum entitled, Cognitive Behavioral Interventions Employment Adult (CBI-EA), assistance with job search and retention support.

Essential Functions:

1. Assist in recruitment efforts for the Pardon Project of Berks County (for both pardon applicants and Pardon Coaches) via outreach to local criminal justice entities, social service providers and other community groups/organizations as appropriate.
2. Assess and enroll pardon applicants in the Pardon Project of Berks County including conducting intake interviews, providing an overview of the pardon process, securing all required court documents needed for the pardon application, completing segments of the pardon application pertaining to criminal history, and preparing the application materials to share with the assigned Pardon Coaches.
3. Provide training for pardon coaches.
4. Assist with connecting pardon applicants with Pardon Coaches and monitor their progress in completing the application.
5. Maintain files for each pardon applicant including the completed application, all required court documents and any supporting documentation provided by the applicant. Document all relevant information into the client files, spreadsheets, and case management system as appropriate.
6. Conduct essential functions of the Connections Work reentry programming, including conducting orientation, completing client assessments, scheduling group sessions and individual appointments, aiding with obtainment of proper ID and ancillary supports, monitoring clients’ progress and fitness for employment and making decisions regarding continued client participation.
7. Provide case management to referred clients including, but not limited to, the following responsibilities:
a. Develop and discuss employment plans.
b. Identify potential job opportunities.
c. Aid in the job search process.
d. Provide job coaching.
e. Utilize established protocols and coordinate employment efforts with the Employment Development Team.
f. Monitor employed clients to ensure retention and be available should that employment end and new employment must be obtained.
8. Establish and maintain communication with program referral sources. This includes keeping referral sources updated with participant progress when necessary.
9. Document pertinent information in appropriate files, spreadsheets, and the case management database. This information includes but is not limited to client participation and progress and information needed for statistics and outcomes.
10. Facilitate cognitive curricula, Workforce Development and Personal Finance workshops to clients in group and one-to-one setting and fill in for other facilitators when necessary. Use and reinforce information and techniques from these curricula and workshops during client interactions. Provide training to Connections Work staff members for Cognitive Behavioral Intervention curricula when certified.
11. Provide interventions and/or instruction for internal value system, appropriate interpersonal skills in the workplace, and other barriers to wellness with clients that demonstrate a need for these added supports.
12. Attend and actively participate in applicable team meetings.
13. Provide backup support to all operations of the agency including but not limited to the reception desk.
Special Requirements:
1. Bilingual in English and Spanish with skill in oral and written communication, including Spanish communication is preferred.
2. A valid Driver’s License, access to a vehicle, and the ability to travel to and work at various locations is required.
3. Valid personal vehicle insurance is required.
- Must complete ongoing training and/or certifications as required for position.
- Must abide by the policies and procedures detailed in the Connections Work Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual, the relevant sections of the PADOC and the PBPP Code of Ethics, Codes of Conduct and PREA Standards, and the relevant sections of the BCJS manual.
