We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of a mission-driven team that provides quality, financially friendly veterinary care to pets who need it most. As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll work side-by-side with experienced veterinarians, technicians and receptionists, gaining hands-on experience while helping to make a difference every single day.

What You’ll Do:

• Help care for our patients by taking histories, giving medications, and supporting our veterinary team during appointments and treatments.
• Keep an eye on the animals in our care, ensuring they’re comfortable, safe, and healthy.
• Maintain accurate medical records (don’t worry—we’ll train you!) and learn to use our Cornerstone and PetPoint systems.
• Pitch in with keeping our clinic clean, organized, and stocked with supplies.
• Be a friendly face and helping hand for pet parents, whether it’s supporting them during appointments or answering their questions at the front desk.
• Help out in reception by scheduling appointments, checking clients in and out, and making sure every pet parent feels welcome and supported.

Location: UNITED STATES, Newington, CT
Position Type: Regular Full Time
Pay Type: Hourly (Non-Exempt)Pay Range: $18.00 -$21.00 US dependent on experience
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:45am to 5:00pm, possible Saturdays in the future.

Requirements

• Experience: At least 1 year working with animals in a clinic or shelter setting if certified or 1-2 years working as a veterinary assistant if no certification.
• Skills: Ability to perform physically strenuous activities which will require lifting of moderate to heavy weights (up to 40 lbs.),standing and/or bending, pushing brooms and/or mops, and walking and/or controlling dogs and/or cats and standing for long periods of time. Prior experience with animal restraint.
• Technology: Proficiency in computers and on-line medical records

Preferred

• Certification: Veterinary Assistant Certification
• Skills: Advanced animal handling experience.
