Wilton Pet Resource - Veterinary Clinic Manager

The Connecticut Humane Society is seeking an experienced, organized, and compassionate Clinic Manager to lead the daily operations of our Wilton clinic and medical department. In this key leadership role, you’ll help ensure that both our people and patients receive the support they need while playing an important part in advancing our mission to improve the lives of animals and the people who love them.

What You’ll Do

As Clinic Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of the medical department, which includes the medical care of the shelter pets and a public facing veterinary clinic. This position combines operational leadership, staff management, financial oversight, customer service, and collaboration with both internal and external partners.

Lead Clinic & Medical Department Operations

You’ll help create an efficient, well-organized environment where patients, clients, and team members can thrive. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing daily clinic and medical department operations
  • Developing, maintaining, and ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures
  • Managing medical software systems, including staff access, client information, electronic medical records, pricing, and inventory
  • Maintaining appointment schedules, clinic flow, and the use of medical spaces
  • Collaborating with building managers to prioritize and schedule veterinary care for shelter animals
  • Responding to client concerns accurately, compassionately, and in a timely manner
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with veterinary hospitals, agencies, animal control officers, rescue organizations, and other community partners
  • Supporting Pet Resource requests and Special Assistance applications in accordance with established procedures
  • Managing clinic inventory and ordering supplies and equipment

 

Build, Support & Lead an Outstanding Team

You’ll lead a diverse team of receptionists, veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and volunteers while creating an environment focused on accountability, communication, development, and compassionate service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and supporting assigned staff
  • Providing ongoing coaching and performance feedback
  • Addressing employee concerns and performance issues in collaboration with leadership and Human Resources
  • Working closely with veterinarians to ensure appropriate staff support and address team concerns
  • Reviewing and approving employee timecards in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws
  • Helping team members grow while maintaining a positive, productive, and collaborative workplace
  • Exercising responsible oversight of organizational resources and spending

Qualifications:

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a confident and compassionate leader who can balance the demands of a busy clinic while keeping both the big picture and the smallest details in focus.

You should bring:

  • Three to five years of experience in clinic management
  • A bachelor’s degree in management or a related field is preferred
  • Strong leadership and staff management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to manage both routine administrative responsibilities and complex customer or employee concerns
  • Sound judgment, critical-thinking skills, and the ability to remain calm during challenging or crisis situations
  • Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Comfort working collaboratively across departments and with external partners
  • Experience with or capacity to learn EzyVet, PetPoint Systems and the Microsoft Office Suite

The role requires someone who can independently prioritize work, think clearly under pressure, and effectively manage a wide variety of operational, employee, and customer-related situations.

Salary : $68,000 - $78,000
